ALBUM REVIEW
This is a curious and worthwhile early 70s prog item. Not great, not a classic by any stretch of the imagination, but definitely worth playing more than once for me. It combines acoustic guitar with a normal bass guitar and drumkit rhythm section to play somewhat ordinary 70s prog instrumentals with a few decent but unremarkable vocal passages. The songwriting is pretty weak to be honest, but what grabs me a bit is the aggressive acoustic guitar playing in a style ordinarily done on electric. In a few spots there's some rather energized strumming. I even had brief thoughts about the venerable Cheval de Frise during a few of the better bits, but don't get your hopes up; it may be in the same galaxy as Cheval but not the same solar system. So this album is not great, but it's interesting enough and I don't feel like I'm wasting my time to play it. I'm really fond of the idea of combining a clean guitar sound (acoustic guitar being inherently clean!) with a prog or fusion rhythm section, and this is an extremely rare combination. There's also some passages with flute that work very nicely, and the last track is a drumkit-less folk song of sorts, very nice. So the main thing here is some quite enjoyable instrumental passages with a fresh sound, and there's nothing about the album that I can complain about. (herkyjerky - Rate Your Music)
